In Ancient Greece, Ælita, a human woman, caught the fancy of the Greek pantheon, causing the goddess Aphrodite to become jealous. She sent her son Eros to shoot Ælita with an arrow to make her fall in love with the hideous Seilenos, but instead Eros fell in love with Ælita. Angered by this, Aphrodite changed Ælita and her entire village into half-goat creatures like satyrs and fauns.
