How are you doing? I'm sharing with you an important message about the upcoming United Community Platform (UCP) this year. As you know, FANDOM and Gamepedia will receive a huge renovation for improvements of editor/user/visitor experience planned to allow all extensions currently available to the MediaWiki engine. And due to that, the community will be going through phases of the development. To stay up to date about these upcoming changes, the blog is available for you to reference. Additionally, please be on the lookout for UCP phase releases and keep the users informed. For any questions and others, as always, please don't hesitate to message me about them, and I will be happy to answer them for you!
I know that there is a timeline page regarding the order of publications of the stories, but was wondering if it would be possible to make a page on a timeline of the events taking place in the comics similar to what has been done on the BioShock wiki: https://bioshock.fandom.com/wiki/Rapture_Timeline. Just wanted to check in and see your opinion on this.
Christopher Golden, Scott Allie, and Chris Roberson have all spoken about the canonicity of the novels. The canon novels are Hellboy: The Lost Army, Hellboy: The Bones of Giants, and Hellboy: The Dragon Pool. The canon short stories are The Nuckelavee, The Promised Smile, and The Other Side of Summer.
Hi there! Quick update on FANDOM's end-of-the-year term. First, there will be changes with featured videos: as of the end of this December, "Featured" Video will be receiving some trial run experiments in hopes of improving its quality, reasons being that videos featured on a page tend to be outdated or spout all the information the user can already read on the article. The main goal will be to figure out how to complement wiki content. Because of that, you might receive a video called "The Loop" play for anonymous users, which will be meant purely to collect visitation data in the vein of the Global Taxonomy method. It won't affect all users, so you might not notice. But if you want to learn more, you can go to the blog post. For more info on Fandom's year in review, you can check out the community post. Let me know if you have any questions, and happy holidays!
KrytenKoro wrote: Should the comic covers be categorized?
At some point I will need to categorize all the images on the wiki. It would definitely be good to categorize all covers, including subcategories for those with trade dress and those without.
Also, should the comic book infoboxes have "previous" and "next" arrows like on tfwiki?
That's a little tricky, since Hellboy moves in a non-linear way and it would clutter up the Infobox. We've sort of got something similar, placed at the bottom of articles, where there are navboxes for trade order, publishing order, chronological order, but they are poorly maintained.
At some point I need to overhaul them. Many are very badly out of date.
Hello, my name is Mark and I have recently started reading Hellboy. I have finished Seed of Destruction Omnibus and am looking to play the videogames and see the films. I think I will start with Hellboy video game from Cryo for PC/PS and see the first film. Or is there any particular order I should play or see them?
Hi Sir Edward Grey, my name is Antonio and I am a Community Manager of the TV/Movies vertical for Fandom. I wanted to introduce myself and see if you need anything, have any problems, or would like to share any ideas you have. As you may already know, our Community Org is changing. From now on our team will focus even more on building closer relationships with the communities, admins, and users.
We are here to support you and help make this community thrive. If you need anything, feel free to contact me or our Wiki Manager directly at any time. And just so you know, Wiki Managers might be more available than me on weekends.
I will be here together to SilverFlight -Wiki Manager- for anything you need.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope to hear back from you soon! :)
Hi! My name is SilverFlight, and I'll be assisting the Hellboy Wiki as its Fandom Wiki Manager. If you have questions regarding the wiki, design, editing, users, etc. I'm here to answet them and be a liaison to direct staff. Please contact me on my message wall and let me know how I can help.
In addition, I'm happy to inform you that Fandom is upgrading its MediaWiki platform to accommodate MediaWiki extensions. You can read more about here on the blog post.
Hello! I wanted to inform you of a few things. First, there is a new Special:Analytics page you can request and access on the admin dashboard! In this way, you can use it to keep track of the number of edits daily, and which users are contributing. In that way, you can figure out the types of users who come and go. More info is available on the Help:Analytics dashboard and the blog post.
I also wanted to let you know that the Hellboy Wiki will be undergoing an SEO test in the next few weeks. This is for anonymous/non-logged-in users - when they click on a file page, they will be redirected to the article pages where the file was used/input the first time when anonymous/non-logged-in users click the link. For example, if they find a picture from the wiki on Google and click it, they won't be directed to the file page; it will go to the article page it was on. The hope is that this will help your community eliminate low quality, low value pages and enrich it inside Google searches. The test won't affect logged-in and verified users; there will be no difference to how they regularly access the file page.
Have any questions? Thoughts? Or do you think there should be a notice in the community? Let me know!
Hi again! I have some good news: there's a new Editor Rewards program honoring the hard work of users with awards those that have gained recognition for their contributions. Details are on this blog post. If you could give some feedback at this blog post, it would be greatly appreciated. As always, please message me if you have any questions!
Hi again! I'm writing to let you know there's a new Global Taxonomy feature out. It compiles all the places a user visits, figures out if there's a trend among them, and then makes a list of recommended wikis tailored to them. In this context, it'll attract fans and newcomers to the wiki! You can read more about it on the blog, plus if you're interested in template use, you can check out this link, too. Hope you find them helpful!
Hey, I'm Brandon from Fandom. We have a partnership with Lionsgate and so we might have the opportunity to exclusively debut the first video featurette from the new Hellboy movie this Saturday morning. We're planning to promote it on Fandom.com and our social media channels.
I also wanted to see if that's something you would be interested in hosting on Hellboy Wiki in some form.
One option could include replacing the trailer in the Featured Video spot on Hellboy (2019 film) with the exclusive featurette. However, it could be any option you would prefer.
We could also use the Announcements feature to send out a notice about the trailer to anyone who has been on the wiki in the last 90 days. That will bring them back to the wiki so they can watch the trailer here.
Let me know what you think and if you're interested!
I just learned that in May 2011 Dark Horse bundled the previously released The Vampire of Prague and Dr. Carp's Experiment together as a single issue. I was going to add the info about the re-release to their pages but wasn't sure what to call the issue.
