Lobster Johnson is a line of comic books about the character The Lobster. It is a spinoff of the Hellboy series.
Publication History[]
The Lobster Johnson series made its debut with a short backup story, The Killer in My Skull, in Hellboy: Box Full of Evil #1. This story would later be collected in the first volume of the B.P.R.D. trades.
In September 2007, the Lobster Johnson debuted its first full miniseries, The Iron Prometheus, written by Mike Mignola with art by Jason Armstrong. Set in 1937, this story explored Memnan Saa, setting up plot elements for B.P.R.D.: The Black Goddess.
In January 2012, Lobster Johnson returned for The Burning Hand, a five-issue miniseries that takes place in 1932 at the beginning of the Lobster's career. John Arcudi became the ongoing writer for the series with this title, saying that future Lobster Johnson stories would continue chronologically from that point. This is mostly true, although the one-shot stories often jump back and forth as much as a year. However, they are collected chronologically in the trade paperback collections.
The Burning Hand also saw Tonci Zonjic join Lobster Johnson as the primary artist on the series. He draws most of the longer arcs, while guest artists usually draw the one-shot stories.

Although Lobster Johnson has been released as a series of miniseries and one-shots, in addition to numbers within a given miniseries, it also has an ongoing numbering system on the inside cover for the series overall.
