Ælita was human woman from Greece and formerly a faun.
History[]
In Ancient Greece, Ælita caught the fancy of the Greek pantheon, causing the goddess Aphrodite to become jealous. She sent her son Eros to shoot Ælita with an arrow to make her fall in love with the hideous Seilenos, but instead Eros fell in love with Ælita. Angered by this, Aphrodite changed Ælita and her entire village into half-goat creatures like satyrs and fauns.
In addition cursed the village to be attacked each year at harvest time by a Cyclops.
The village of these goat-creatures still persisted into the modern day, living secretly hidden in a magical world of Ancient Greece enduring the curse. In 1962, Thessaly, Greece, Ælita at the beckoning of her mother, Sibyl to locate the Ægipan, a supposed hero sent by the god Pan, who would undo the curse on them, spied Hellboy. Seeing him fit the criteria of the hero, Ælita used her goat form to lure him away to the hidden world. There she revealed herself and guided him to her village, where she explained her plight.
When the Cyclops arose, Hellboy was forced to fight in in order to save Ælita. He slayed it, earning him the anger of Aphrodite who appeared alongside her son Eros. Before she crushed Hellboy and Ælita to death, Eros beseeched his mother to spare them, citing her animosity towards the mortals was pointless as she was always the most fairest creature in the world. Eros promised to forsake his love to Ælita, which Aphrodite agreed though would only release her curse if Eros shoot and arrow at Ælita to make her fall in love with the Ægipan. Hellboy though took the arrowshot for her.
When he awoke, with an arrow lodged in his chest, seeing Agent Dryades hovering over him. After Hellboy was evacuated out of the dormant caldera of Mount Othrys the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense found him in. Unknown to the agents and Hellboy, a human-looking Ælita witnessed their departure, hinting that the curse by Aphrodite had truly lifted.[1]
